Woman Fatally Struck By Postal Van Near Montgomery County Gas Station

The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the woman's death, authorities said.

KENSINGTON, MD — A woman died Wednesday after she was struck by a U.S. Postal Service van while crossing the driveway of a Montgomery County gas station.

According to police, the incident happened around 10:40 a.m. near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Road in Kensington.

Investigators later learned the driver of the postal van was leaving the Mobil gas station located in the 10600 block of Connecticut Avenue when the collision occurred. According to police, the driver was preparing to turn onto Connecticut Avenue when they struck a woman who was walking across the apron of the gas station's driveway.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the woman's death. Authorities said more details will be released, including the victim's name, following notification of her family.
