1 Dead In Fiery Four-Car I-95 Crash

An initial police investigation found that a Honda Civic was going the wrong-way on I-95 early Saturday morning.

BELTSVILLE, MD — One person was killed and three others injured in a fiery four-car crash on I-95 in Prince George's County early Saturday morning, Maryland State Police said.

Troopers responded to the crash on northbound I-95 south of Maryland Route 212 shortly after 4:15 a.m. The road in the area was closed until 9:20 a.m. while police investigated.

A preliminary police investigation found that the driver of a Honda Civic was going southbound in the northbound lane when it collided head on with a Mitsubishi Gallant. The driver of the Gallant, a 31-year-old Beltsville man, was not injured, police said.

Police said the Honda then crashed with a BMW 325, which led to the driver of the BMW becoming partially ejected through the windshield.

Police said the Honda and BMW then crashed with a Lexus RX350. The Honda then caught fire after traveling into the right shoulder.

The driver of the BMW, a 35-year-old Laurel man, and the driver of the Lexus, a 46-year-old Mechanicsville man, were taken to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center for treatment.

Police said the driver of the Honda was entrapped and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was only named as an unidentified female by police.

The crash remains under investigation.
