DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — A pedestrian was struck and killed by two vehicles in District Heights over the weekend, police say.

Police were called to the 5900 block of Silver Hill Road at around 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 7 to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian, and found a man suffering from critical injuries, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was attempting to cross the street midblock when he was struck by a Mercedes travelling southbound on Silver Hill Road," the report states. "The initial collision caused the victim to fall to the ground. He was then struck a second time by an SUV which was unable to avoid striking the victim. Both drivers were uninjured and remained on the scene. Investigators are working to determine circumstances leading up to the collision."

Police are still trying to identify the victim, and they will release his name when he is identified and his family has been notified. Police asked anyone with information on the incident to call them.
