$50K Lottery Win Claimed By Military Officer, Wife Who Can't Wait To Travel More

A military officer and his wife recently claimed a $50K winning lottery ticket. They plan to put it in the bank and save it for travel.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A military officer and his wife who are loyal Powerball players were thrilled to learn they'd won a $50,000 prize recently.

“This is the first time in 30 years of playing Powerball that we have won this much,” he told Maryland lottery officials.

The winner was off by one number and just missed out on the top Double Play prize. The man said he always purchases the Double Play option for an additional dollar to help increase his chances to win.

“For an extra $1, why not. It paid off for us,” the military officer said.

Because the couple loves to travel, they plan to place the prize winnings in the bank to possibly use it later to travel to more destinations around the world, they told lottery officials.
