Body Found in Overturned Car in Bowie Retention Pond: Police

BREAKING: Deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Bowie resident, according to Maryland State Police.

BOWIE, MD — A driver was found deceased inside an overturned car Saturday morning in a water retention pond in Bowie, according to Maryland State Police. The car was found shortly after 8 a.m. on John Hanson Highway at the exit ramp for Collington Road.

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim Sow, 29, of Bowie. Sow was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner's Office. There were no other passengers in the car.

A preliminary investigation and crash reconstruction has been performed, according to state police.

"The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but this seems to be a single vehicle collision with no other vehicle involved," according to a state release.
