Children Sexually Abused During Private Swimming Lessons In PGC: Police
A Silver Spring man has been charged with sexually abusing children during private swimming lessons he gave at an Upper Marlboro pool.
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — A Silver Spring man has been charged in connection to the sexual assault of two children younger than age 10. The incident happened while he was giving the children a private swimming lesson, police say.
On July 22, a relative of the two children contacted the Prince George’s County Police Department to report the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Tyler Wang’Ombe-Gichuru, had sexually assaulted the two children during a swim lesson, police reported.
A preliminary investigation indicated the victims’ family hired Wang’Ombe-Gichuru to give the private swim lessons. The sexual assaults happened at a community center in Upper Marlboro on July 22. The suspect is not an employee of the community center, police reported.

Wang’Ombe-Gichuru faces multiple charges to include two counts of second degree rape – child under 13, assault and multiple additional sexual offenses. He is currently in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
At this time, the suspect has been charged in connection to only this case. During the investigation, detectives learned that Wang’Ombe-Gichuru met the victims’ family at a trampoline park in Laurel where Wang’Ombe-Gichuru works. CVAA detectives want to speak to anyone with information about Wang’Ombe-Gichuru or who believes they may have been victimized by him in Prince George’s County.
