Chris Rock Adds Fourth Show at MGM National Harbor

From MGM National Harbor: Due to popular demand, a fourth show has been added to Chris Rock’s highly anticipated debut at The Theater at MGM National Harbor on Saturday, October 21. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday, May 12 at 10 a.m. Rock is also slated to perform at the 3,000-seat venue for his Total Blackout Tour on October 18, 19 and 20.

Throughout his storied career, Rock has garnered four Emmy Awards, three GRAMMY Awards and is listed No. 5 on Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All-Time.”After gaining early success as a stand-up comedian, the Brooklyn-raised comedian joined the cast of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in 1989. He taped his first HBO special in 1993 followed by another special, “Bring The Pain,” in 1997 which earned him two Emmy Awards for Best Writing and Outstanding Special. He partnered with HBO for three more specials: “Bigger & Blacker” which was nominated for three Emmy Awards; “Never Scared” in 2004; and “Kill The Messenger” in 1998 which earned him his fourth Emmy Award.

Rock served as both co-creator and narrator for the television show, “Everybody Hates Chris” which earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy and a Writers Guild Awards nomination for Best New Series. Additional TV roles included his acclaimed “Chris Rock Show” which began airing on HBO in 1997; a guest-starring role on the hit series “Empire;” and an appearance in the Netflix holiday special, “A Very Murray Christmas” starring Bill Murray. This summer, Rock will break from touring to reunite with Adam Sandler in production of Netflix’s original movie, “The Week Of.” He will also executive produce BET’s newest late-night show, “The Rundown with Robin Thede.”

Rock made his feature film debut in “Beverly Hills Cop II” with Eddie Murphy and his distinct voice brought to life the animated character of Marty, the quick-witted zebra, in the four “Madagascar” movies. His movie credits include “Lethal Weapon 4,” “Dr. Doolittle,” “Dogma,” “Down To Earth,” “Bad Company,” “The Longest Yard” and “Grown Ups 2,” among many others. Rock was most recently seen starring in “Top Five,” opposite of Rosario Dawson, which he also wrote and directed.

The multi-faceted Rock also competed in the 2009 Sundance Film Festival as a first-time filmmaker for the documentary, “Good Hair,” a comedic look into the immense African-American hair industry. The critically acclaimed film went on to win the Sundance “Special Jury Prize,” the NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Documentary” and was named “Top Five Documentaries of 2009” by the National Board of Review.

Rock is a two-time Academy Awards host and has hosted the MTV Video Music Awards twice. He has released GRAMMY Award-winning comedy albums, is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-selling author and recently directed HBO’s comedy special, “Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo” where he earned a 2016 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Director for a Variety Special.
