Driver Points Gun At Man During Road Rage Incident On I-495 Inner Loop
A Temple Hills man was arrested after police say he pointed a gun at another driver in a road rage incident that happened on I-495.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A Temple Hills man has been arrested in connection to a road rage incident involving a gun that unfolded on the Capital Beltway Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 4:20 p.m. Aug. 13, the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack received an emergency call from a driver who told dispatch that another driver had pointed a gun at them while traveling on the inner loop of I-495 in the area of Annapolis Road. State troopers launched an immediate investigation and identified Stephen Eric Scroggins, 52, as the suspect, according to the Maryland State Police.
Troopers found Scroggins while out driving his vehicle and stopped him. A loaded firearm was found in the vehicle. Scroggins was arrested Thursday and charged with first- and second-degree assault, and use of a firearm during a felony crime. Scroggins was taken to the Prince George’s County Division of Corrections and released Friday after posting a $2,500 bail, police reported.
