Excessive Heat Prompts Officials To Cancel Rec And Parks Activities Wednesday

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — As heat continues to blanket the state this week, county officials have announced the cancellation of a few events on Wednesday.

The rec and parks department canceled or modified the following programs and services Wednesday due to the heat:

• Yoga in the Parks (June 25 at Bladensburg Waterfront Park) – Canceled
• Wonderful World of Watkins at Watkins Regional Park – Closed
• Youth and Countywide Sports Division (YCSD) – All natural grass athletic fields and synthetic turf fields are closed

All indoor and outdoor pools will remain open and operate on regular schedules during the heat warning, officials noted.
