Grab a Pencil, PG Schools Present Bilingual College Prep Workshop

The 19th annual workshop will be presented in English and Spanish on Dec. 13.

Whether you’re a student getting ready to graduate or a parent waiting for your child to continue their education, the college prep workshop is a must-attend.

The “Estudios Universitarios a su Alcance: A College Education Is Within Your Reach” workshop will address all things college at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, University of Maryland College Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 13.

PGCPS Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kevin Maxwell will have breakfast with parents and students. Administrative Director for the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic and Caribbean Affairs Jonathan Jayes-Green will attend as the guest keynote speaker.

The Prince George’s County Public Schools event will group attendees by grade:

  • Grades 6, 7, & 8: Early Preparation for your College Dream
  • Grades 9 & 10: How to Succeed in High School and Prepare for College
  • Grade 11: How to Apply to College and Get Financial Aid
  • Grade 12: How to Pay for College

Following the sessions, families will go to the College and Community Agency Fair. Multiple colleges, including Bowie State University and Prince George’s Community College, will attend to provide additional information. The event will end with tours of University of Maryland College Park.

Admission to the workshop is free and open to the public.
