Granddaughter Arrested In Woman's Fatal Stabbing

A 28-year-old granddaughter has been located and arrested in connection to her grandmother's fatal stabbing, police report.

FORT WASHINGTON, MD — The woman wanted in connection to the death of her grandmother has been located and arrested.

The Prince George's County Police Department's fugitive unit found the suspect, 28-year-old Breante Thomas of Waldorf, in her hometown. She's been charged with first- and second-degree murder, attempted first- and second-degree murder and related charges, in connection to the death of 81-year-old Helen Thomas.

Thomas was found dead inside her Fort Washington home Sept. 14 around 1:50 p.m. when Prince George's police officers were asked to conduct a welfare check. The home is located in the 500 block of Bonhill Drive. Officers found Thomas inside the home with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect also stabbed a second family member, a man, who police earlier said was listed in critical but stable condition.
