PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A bus driver shortage may have been to blame after a mother says her daughter was left waiting for hours at a Prince George's County bus stop on Monday, according to a report.

Fox 5 reports that 11-year-old Samari Matthews, a student at Accokeek Academy, watched as her bus simply passed by the Oxon Hill stop. A second bus had to be sent to pick up students.

Fox 5 quotes the mother as saying that her daughter has missed class before because of the bus. A bus driver job fair is scheduled for Wednesday, the report notes.

The school district has struggled with bus driver shortages for years now, reportedly due to competition from neighboring districts and labor disputes.
