Parkdale High School Teacher Indicted On Rape, Sex Abuse Of A Minor Charges

A Parkdale High School teacher faces an 18-count indictment including charges of sexual abuse of a minor and rape.

BOWIE, MD — A Parkdale High School teacher has been indicted on multiple charges of sexual abuse against a minor and rape. The teacher — Amir Johnson of Bowie — has been suspended by the school.

Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson said Thursday that Johnson faces an 18-count indictment. Between January and April 2025, the victim had multiple sexual encounters with Johnson, authorities said.

Due to the victim’s age and the sensitive nature of the allegations, no additional details will be released at this time, Jackson said.

“This indictment reflects our office’s efforts to protect our most vulnerable residents, including our children,” Jackson said. “Sexual abuse is an extremely personal violation against someone, especially a child, and we take these allegations very seriously. Teachers are trusted professionals who have a responsibility to care, educate and develop our children, and violating that trust in such an egregious manner is a betrayal of our community’s safety and values. We will continue to work collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to ensure cases like this are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.”

The Prince George's County Public School's website lists Johnson as a social studies teacher at Parkdale High School in Riverdale. The school district released the following statement:
