Police Officer Dies After 24 Years With PGPD
The Prince George's County Police Department has announced that one of its own has died, leaving behind a wife and two children.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Prince George's County Police family is mourning the loss of Sergeant Benjamin Habershon, 47, who died Nov. 4.
A Capitol Heights resident, Habershon was with the Prince George's County Police Department for 24 years. He handled multiple assignments in his two dozen years with the PGPD, including being stationed at Landover - District III, in the Forensic Science Division and most recently with the agency’s new Real Time Crime Center. Habershon earned multiple awards and citations over the years to include awards of merit and unit citations, the police department stated.
"Sergeant Habershon was known for his kindness as well as his amazing sense of humor. He found joy in serving the community and had a passion for volunteering. He especially enjoyed the annual Toys for Tots events," the police department shared.

Habershon leaves behind a daughter and son, as well as a wife. His cause of death has not been disclosed.
