Driver Involved In Fatal Hit-And-Run Upper Marlboro Crash Sought By Police

Maryland State Police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that happened this weekend in Prince George's County.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Maryland State Police are asking for the public's help locating the driver suspected of a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian that happened early Saturday in Prince George's County.

Around 6:20 a.m. Aug. 2, troopers were called to eastbound Maryland Route 202 at Wood Branch Court for a report of a pedestrian-involved crash, the Maryland State Police reported.

According to a preliminary investigation, the pedestrian, later identified as Leroy Wedge, 43, of Upper Marlboro, was attempting to cross Maryland Route 202, when for unknown reasons, he was hit by an unknown vehicle, which took off from the scene.

Troopers stated the vehicle is a 2012-2014 GMC Terrain or Chevrolet Equinox.

Maryland Route 202 was closed for more than three hours. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack at 301-345-3101.
