Prince George's Schools Make Weather Decision For Jan. 10
Prince George's County Public Schools have made a weather decision for Friday, Jan. 10, classes.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County Public Schools buildings and offices will open on a two-hour delay Friday, Jan. 10, returning students to classrooms after four days of cancelations following a winter storm.
The district's Code Orange status for Friday means schools and offices will open with a two-hour delay.
Emergency personnel must report to work on time and are not eligible for liberal leave.

Some programs and services will be canceled on Friday because of the shortened school day.
- There will be no work-study transportation. (Those students should not report to school.)
- There will be no half-day Early Childhood Center, half-day Special Education Programs, or half-day PreK.
- Any other school program requiring transportation prior to 12 noon will NOT have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center, JA Finance Park, and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt)
- All field trips will be cancelled.
- Food Services will offer breakfast.
"We are grateful for the ongoing efforts of our dedicated teams and community partners who have been working around the clock for a safe return for everyone," the district statement said.

Families were urged to watch for email, text alerts, the PGCPS website, and the district's social media channels for updates.

The first big winter storm of the year has brought anywhere from 2 inches to more than 10 inches of snow across Maryland, according to totals Tuesday. Numerous school districts canceled classes Monday and Tuesday, as the National Weather Service called for up to a foot of snow across parts of the state. Gov. Wes Moore declared a state of emergency due to the expected threat of the winter storm.
