Scam Alert: Call About Missed Jury Duty and 7-Eleven Money
The Sheriff's Office warns residents not to give the caller money and report the call to PGPD.

A phone scam has been reported to the Prince George’s County Office of the Sheriff’s Communications and Public Relations.
A citizen explained that she received a call saying that she missed jury duty and was asked to buy a prepaid card for $500 at 7-Eleven.
The citizen reported that when she called 301-310-1985, the answering machine picked up and said: “Yes, you have reached Captain Woods. Sorry I missed your call. Leave a message and I’ll get back to you at my earliest convenience.”

Sheriff Melvin High said that there is no sworn or civilian member of the Sheriff’s Office who is making calls about jury duty. The office does not ask for money prepaid cards for any reason.
“We do not make these calls and I urge citizens who get a call like this to please notify us by calling 301-780-8600 but do not give the caller money or put money on a prepaid card for the caller,” Sheriff High said in a news release.
