Teen Charged In Death Of Man Found In Woods

A 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection to the death of a man whose body was found in the woods, according to police.

BOWIE, MD — A 16-year-old boy from Mitchellville has been charged in connection to the murder of a 58-year-old Landover man. The teen has been charged as an adult.

On Sept. 23 around 1:55 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 10800 block of Lake Arbor Way for the report of a deceased man. They found Coleman Williams unresponsive in a wooded area. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner noted multiple injuries to the victim’s body and is working to determine the official cause of death, the police department noted.

Detectives identified the teenager as the suspect during their investigation. He was taken into custody Oct. 2. The preliminary investigation indicates that the murder stemmed from a dispute between the suspect and victim. At this time, there is no known connection between them.

The suspect has been charged with second-degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
