COTTAGE CITY, MD — A van struck an 85-year-old pedestrian in Cottage City earlier this week and then left the scene, police say.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Bladensburg Road at around 6 a.m. on Aug. 26 and found the victim in the roadway, who they rushed to the hospital, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police found a driver's side mirror at the scene, leading them to believe that the vehicle is a 2015-2019 Ford Transit van, color unknown, the report states. Police say it is possible the driver did not know he or she struck the pedestrian.
