Woman Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle At Illegal Car Rally

An 18-year-old doing stunts with his vehicle at an illegal car rally has been arrested after PGPD says he hit and seriously injured a woman.

LANDOVER, MD — An 18-year-old Millersville man has been charged in connection to the hit-and-run of a woman who was struck by his vehicle during an illegal car rally.

The illegal vehicle takeover happened Sept. 14 around 1:45 a.m. in a shopping center parking lot located in the 8500 block of Landover Road. Vehicle takeovers are large, unauthorized gatherings where participants "often engage in reckless and illegal activities such as street racing, stunts and other disruptive activities," police stated.

Prince George's County police investigators learned that during this illegal takeover, while doing circles in his car, Naef Salmo hit a spectator and then took off. The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. She has since been released, police reported.

“We know these illegal vehicle takeovers may seem harmless to some, but the fact is, they can be dangerous. In this case, a young woman suffered serious injuries. We’ve also investigated a fatal shooting at a car takeover in recent years,” said Prince George's Police Chief George Nader.
