Great American Campout at Sandy Point

The Maryland Park Service has teamed with the National Wildlife Federation to celebrate theΒ Great American Backyard Campout this Saturday and Sunday with events at nine different state parks including Sandy Point.

On June 25, thousands of people across the nation will gather in their backyards, neighborhoods, communities and parks to take part in this one-night event for all generations to connect with nature.

Residents can join the Great American Backyard Campout whether you are an experienced camper or first-time campers.

Date:Β Β June 25-26
Time:Β Β 10 a.m. on June 25 to 1 p.m. on June 26
Activities:Β Camping out with campfire cookouts and S’mores. Sandy Point will also be offering itsΒ Scales and Tales demonstrations (anΒ environmental education program where participants see wildlife up close)Β and Owl Prowls.

Cost: Β The cost is only $15/family (up to 6 people). Limited space is available so register first. The camping cost includes entrance into the day-use area on both Saturday and Sunday.

Families are allowed to tent camp only and supply their own food and drinks. Picnic tables and grills will be available to use. S’mores will be provided. Both alcohol and pets are not permitted.
