Bank of America Donates $25K for Financial Literacy
Bank of America’s Baltimore Washington Suburbs Market led a community event at on July 30 where the bank’s employees prepared more than 600 bag lunches for the Annapolis Light House Shelter.
During the event, Scott Meehan presented the AACC Foundation Inc. with a check for $25,000 to support the AACC's financial literacy programming and the upcoming AACC 50th Anniversary Gala set for Oct. 15.
Kauffman Theater Dedication Available on DVD
A crowd of more than 250 Anne Arundel Community College faculty, staff, alumni, actors of all ages and community theater crews and supporters packed the college Pascal Center for Performing Arts on Aug. 10 in , professor of performing arts emeritus, and the official dedication of the theater in his name.

DVDs of the celebration are now in production and available to those who donate $25 or more to the Robert E. Kauffman Scholarship at the college.

- In person: drop off your check to the foundation staff at the Isaac Cox House on the Arnold campus.
AACC Arts Dept. Prepares for Upcoming Shows
Theatre goers can now purchase tickets for upcoming performances of Love Letters, a Pulitzer Prize nominated play cast with Anne Arundel Community College administrators as a scholarship fundraiser tied to the college’s 50th Anniversary celebration.
Love Letters tells the story of two childhood friends who keep in touch in adulthood through letters that share their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats.
The play by A.R. Gurney will showcase a different set of actors for each show.
On Sept. 9, the show stars AACC President Martha A. Smith, with Charles “Jolly” Davis, professor of mathematics. The Sept. 10 show features Vivian Gist Spencer, professor of English, with Shad Ewart, assistant professor of business management. On Sept. 11, Douglas Brandt Byerly, chair of performing arts, and Jennifer Lara, professor of education, will be the stars.
The show is directed by AACC’s Lars Tatom, assistant professor of performing arts.
Show times 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evening and 2 p.m. for the Sunday matinee. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 with valid AACC student ID. Call 410-777-2457 or email boxoffice@aacc.edu for more information.
Auditions are set for Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 for the Anne Arundel Community College Theatre at AACC fall production of “Cyrano,” a new adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s romantic classic “Cyrano de Bergerac.”
The show is adapted by Lars Tatom, AACC assistant professor of performing arts and Theatre at AACC coordinator, and will be directed by special guest artist Patrick Elkins-Zeglarski.
Roles for 12-15 actors are available; the role of Cyrano is precast. Scripts are available for checkout at 410-777-7125.
Auditions begin at 7 p.m. both days in the Robert E. Kauffman Theater in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts on the Arnold campus. Callbacks will take place Wednesday, Sept. 14. Kunsman Appointed Interim Director of AACC Cybercenter
Kip Kunsman of Perry Hall, who has more than 20 years of experience in workforce development and contract training in the higher education field, was appointed Aug. 1 as interim director of the CyberCenter at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC).
He had previously served as director for AACC’s Center for Workforce Solutions since 2006. Kunsman came to AACC from the Governor’s Workforce Investment Board, where he was a manager of administrative and regulatory operations.
Kunsman earned a bachelor’s degree in emergency health services management from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a master’s degree in human resources development from Towson University.
