UPDATE: Authorities Investigate Report of Bay Bridge Jumper

Reports say the bridge was closed briefly and reopened on Wednesday afternoon after an abandoned vehicle was found.

UPDATE (2:53 p.m.)—Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Keith Swindle said marine units were dispatched to do reconnaissance near the base of the center portion of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a bridge jumper.

The westbound span of the bridge was shut down to traffic on Wednesday afternoon while authorities investigated an abandoned vehicle, according to the Queen Anne's Sheriff's Office. 

Both lanes were closed at about 2:15 p.m., but by 2:45, traffic was reopened according to an online update by the sheriff's authorities.
