County Police Target Sex Offenders on Halloween
Police will ensure that specific individuals are complying with Halloween protocol for registered sex offenders.
Anne Arundel County police will be patrolling local neighborhoods on Halloween, ensuring that "specific" registered sex offenders who are on parole or probation are complying with legal requirements.
The increased patrols of targeted offenders is called Operation Lights Out.
"Halloween night poses an increased risk to children for unsupervised exposure to convicted sex offenders," stated a police issued press release.
Officers and detectives will be in communities following up with specific, identified sex offenders to make sure they are complying with the following:
- They must be home and stay in their houses from 6 p.m. until 10 on Halloween
- “No candy” signs must be placed on the primary entrance door, in plain sight
- Porch lights must remain off
- No candy can be handed out
Anne Arundel State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess and Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis will be participating in patrols in the Pasadena area, according to the press release.
