Powerball Ticket Worth $500K Sold In PG County, Jackpot Swells to $1.7B
The massive pot began accumulating in early September, after players in Missouri and Texas cashed in on the previous $1.787 billion jackpot.
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — While no one won Monday's massive Powerball jackpot, a ticket worth $500,000 was sold in Prince George's County, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
The numbers drawn on Monday were white balls 3, 18, 36, 41 and 54. The red Powerball was 7. The Power Play multiplier was 2X. Monday's jackpot was $1.6 billion, the fourth largest in Powerball history and the fifth largest among U.S. lottery jackpots.
The winning ticket sold in Upper Marlboro included the Double Play option to win a $500,000 second-tier prize, officials said in a statement. The ticket was sold at Wawa, located at 163 S.E. Crain Highway.

Nationwide, nine tickets matched all five white balls to $1 million prizes. The winning Match 5 tickets were sold in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York (two), Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
A second Double Play ticket worth $500,000 was also sold in Florida, according to Powerball's website. The drawing also produced 107 tickets that won $50,000 prizes and 28 tickets that won $100,000 prizes.

Wednesday's estimated jackpot now climbs to $1.7 billion. If a player wins the jackpot, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize estimated or a lump sum payment estimated at $781.3 million. Both prize options are before taxes.
Powerball tickets, which cost $2, are available in Maryland at gas stations, convenience stores, and grocery stores. The deadline to buy tickets for Wednesday's drawing is 10 p.m.
Players in 12 states and the District of Columbia can purchase tickets from their official state lottery websites. They are Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky (through the app), Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
The last time a Maryland player won the Powerball jackpot was on Jan. 20, 2021, when a $731.1 million ticket was claimed.
Maryland has had three jackpot winners since 2003. Together, they claimed jackpots totalling $968.7 million.
Since 2003, the jackpot has been unclaimed three times:
- A ticket worth $77.1 million for the June 29, 2011, drawing was sold in Georgia;
- A ticket worth $50 million for the May 25, 2013, drawing was sold in Florida; and
- A ticket worth $139.3 million for the July 3, 2024, drawing was sold in Ohio.
Wednesday's drawing will be the 47th in the current jackpot run, a game record for the most drawings in a jackpot cycle. The Powerball jackpot was last won on Sept. 6 by two tickets in Missouri and Texas that split a $1.787 billion prize.
