Roy Rogers Returns to Anne Arundel County

The restaurant is the first of the franchise to open in the county in more than 20 years.

Roy Rogers restaurants has returned to Anne Arundel County after an absence of more than 20 years, according to a news release.

With this week’s opening, the Frederick-based Roy Rogers chain will have 50 locations spread throughout Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. James King, a principal in the company that is opening the franchise location, is set to open another Roy Rogers in Pasadena next year.

Roy Rogers is staging a comeback after it suffered a severe decline in units in the 1990s, the result of the chain’s being sold by Marriott to Hardee’s, which sold off, closed and converted many units. At its height, the chain had more than 600 locations.
