South River Seahawks win 2016 Maryland AAU Baseball Championship
Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Baseball title tilt matches Anne Arundel clubs in shootout
EDGEWATER, Md.—Blake Thrasher gave up no hits in relief, but Maryland RBI, of Ruth’s Baseball Ideals (RBI) Baseball Club (Annapolis, Md.), still fell to the South River Seahawks 9-5 in a seven inning shootout on Saturday July 2 in the finals of the 2016 Maryland AAU Baseball Championships at South River High School.
Brad Marceron was strong on the hill and got the win for South River despite allowing five runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered five hits.
South River couldn't get anything going so long as Thrasher was on the hill. Thrasher held the Seahawks hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

South River was sparked by Nick Moskios and Eric Sieber, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs.
Scott Mudd went 2 2/3 innings on the rubber for Maryland RBI, taking the loss. He walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.

The lead stayed with South River after the third, when it scored three runs on two singles.
South River built upon its lead with six runs in the fifth. The inning got off to a hot start when Moskios singled, scoring Marceron. That was followed up by Bryce Lerner's RBI single.
After storming back to push across five runs in the top of the sixth, Maryland RBI faced just a 9-5 deficit. A two-run double by Mac McGrath, an RBI double by Billy Albaugh, a bases loaded walk by Mickey Yimam, and a walk by Jeff Johnson fueled Maryland RBI's comeback. Finally, Sieber induced an inning-ending strikeout to put out the fire for South River.
