The Great Escape: Brunch at the Kent Manor Inn

Every once in awhile, with any luck, parents get a quick opportunity to have some well-deserved “me” time or even "us" time. It’s your time. Take it.

Sometimes when you have a chance to get away, to experience a new environment and lifestyle, it can make you forget about the life challenges waiting at home.

A few years ago, my husband and I took a short car ride over the Bay Bridge to the lovely Kent Manor Inn, once a formal estate built in the early 1800’s. Located along Thompson Creek in Stevensville, the entire estate offers manicured gardens, arched walkways and picturesque views. Walking inside of the Inn takes you back in time, with its interior historical English furnishings and art pieces.

If you happen to have a Sunday morning/afternoon where you can sneak away without the kids, the Inn offers a Champagne Sunday Brunch Buffet from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. that allows you to sample, indulge, relax and renew.

The Inn promises that no two Sundays are the same with creative dishes like Caribbean spiced pork loin or butter poached lobster frittata.  

The buffet also includes an imported cheese display, various cold salads, sliced seasonal fruits and fresh-baked breakfast pastries. You will also find crisp applewood bacon strips and warm maple sausage, a made-to-order omelet station, and a waffle station. If that isn’t enticing enough, be sure to tell your significant other about the fabulous dessert bar. 

A complimentary bloody Mary, mimosa, or glass of champagne makes the perfect enhancement to the brunch. Or you can enjoy a large selection of fine wines.   

The cost is only $24 per person. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 410-643-7716.
