Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:

  1. On Tuesday, Mar. 29, Judge Dennis Robinson sentenced 31-year-old Dylan Russel Shields to 10 years in prison, with all but six months suspended, and two years of supervised probation. Shields plead guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter earlier this month due to the car crash on Jan. 19, 2021. Shields was using his cellphone while driving on Interstate 95 and his car rear-ended Luke Souders' vehicle. 30-year-old Luke Souders, of Catonsville, died at the scene and another driver, 42-year-old Patrick Cavanaugh, was injured.   2. On Apr. 4, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin the first stage of construction on the Baltimore Beltway bridge over the Baltimore National Pike in the Catonsville area. The four stages of construction are expected to be completed by October 2022. The first stage is to work on I-695 bridge deck joints overnight, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings. (WMAR 2 News)
  3. The Catonsville High School varsity girls lacrosse team won 16 to four against Eastern Tech. And the Catonsville baseball team lost in a close game of 10 to nine against Polytechnic. (Baltimore Sun)
