What Would You Do? Catonsville Man Wins $100K On Old Lottery Ticket
A Catonsville man is $100,008 richer after remembering he had some old lotto tickets in his pocket.
CATONSVILLE, MD — A traveling general manager couldn't believe his luck when he remembered to check some lottery tickets he had in his pocket. One of them ended up yielding $100,008 from the Powerball.
“It brightened my eyes when I scanned my ticket,” he said.
On Sept. 8, the Baltimore County resident stopped at the Shell gas station at 6600 Security Boulevard in Woodlawn and bought some "pick 3" and "pick 4" tickets. He decided to add a quick-pick Powerball ticket to his purchase, too. That night, the winning Powerball numbers were 9, 22, 41, 47 and 61 with a Powerball of 21. “Traveling Man” matched all but the 9 for his big score. On a regular $2 ticket, this would translate to a $50,000 prize but he had opted to pay an extra $1 to add the power play multiplier option, which that night was X2, which turned the win into $100,008. The extra $8 resulted from a smaller win on the same ticket stub.

The 54-year-old regular player enjoys the thrill of playing and the occasional daydream of what he would do if he hit it big, but also describes himself as “very frugal.” While he toyed with the idea of getting a new luxury car with the proceeds of his Powerball win, he ultimately decided to put it all in the bank and forgo any celebration. He will, however, continue playing in hopes of hitting big again.
