Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. Baltimore County Police are searching for the person who shot a 16-year-old boy on Monday at the 4300 block of Wilkens Avenue in Catonsville. The victim was taken to a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg. Police ask anyone with information to call 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-756-2587. (FOX Baltimore)
  2. Former Baltimore police Detective Robert Hankard is on trial for allegedly helping members of the Gun Trace Task Force plant evidence and conduct illegal searches, including an incident in a Motel 6 room in Catonsville. Former Sgt. Keith Gladstone, who allegedly stole money and sold drugs while a sergeant, testified that Hankard illegally searched the motel room without a warrant and then planted drugs in the suspect's truck to create probable cause to search the room. Gladstone then testified that Hankard lied on his application to get a search warrant after the hotel room was already searched. (WBAL Radio)
  3. Tony Fugett, the former head of Baltimore County’s NAACP and one of the plaintiffs who sued Baltimore County over its proposed council district map, is running for the second council district seat against incumbent Izzy Patoka. Fugett, the Baltimore County Branch of the NAACP, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland sued the county over the originally proposed map because it only gave minorities a fair shot at winning one out of seven council seats. For example, the first district, which includes Catonsville, was just barely a minority-majority district, even though minorities made up almost 50 percent of the population. (WYPR)
