  1. The Baltimore County Police Department is investigating a murder after a body was found in the 900 block of Sun Circle Way in nearby Essex on Jan. 15. The death was ruled as a homicide after an autopsy and the body was identified as 23-year-old Cameron D. James. Please call 410-307-2020 with any information about this case. (Daily Voice)
  2. Children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals in Baltimore County public schools have increased dramatically in the last five years, from 44 percent to 66 percent, according to statistics on the school system’s website. Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said he supports Montgomery County Del. Kirill Reznik’s legislation. Reznik is proposing legislation in the Maryland General Assembly to make all school meals free statewide. (WYPR)
  3. A Baltimore County family has gained support from the community while fighting a neighbor's complaint against their rooster's crowing. Jackie and Drew Tanenbaum, their rooster named Wilbur, and eight hens live happily in Parkton, but one neighbor is not happy. That neighbor has filed complaints with Baltimore County, which resulted in a $150 fine for the Tanenbaums each time the neighbor hears the rooster crow. The fines have amassed to $4,650. If you have at least one acre of land, the Baltimore County code allows you to have any amount of poultry on your property, as long as they're not a nuisance. The Tanenbaums created a Change.org petition that has more than 20,000 signatures as of Jan. 20. (WBAL TV)
