Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:
- On Dec. 1, Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) will host a meeting titled, "Community Conversation on Safe and Supportive Environments" to discuss middle school safety. From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, BCPS leaders and a Maryland Safe Schools psychologist will discuss adolescent behavior. Community members who cannot attend in-person can attend virtually on the BCPS Youtube channel. (Owings Mills Patch)
- Baltimore County police are working with the FBI to expand the investigation into the threats made to Towson High School students. The first social media threat on Nov. 17 claimed the person would pull out a small rifle from their backpack and kill students. Baltimore County police spokeswoman Joy Stewart said, "The person may be using technology that can mask their location," and told families to be "vigilant in the information that they are sharing and only to share the information that has been properly vetted." (WBAL-TV 11)
- A Facebook user claimed in a post on the platform that human traffickers tried to disorient their daughter by placing tainted ice cream on parts of her car to get her to touch them in the parking lot of a restaurant in Baltimore County. The social media user claimed police said it was "a setup for possible sex trafficking." Baltimore County police said they have no record of the incident. Ayan Ahmed, a spokesperson for the organization that fights sex and labor trafficking, Polaris, said the tainted ice cream claim "fit with other baseless claims of seemingly innocuous, but drug-laced, objects."
