Catonsville Businessman Killed, Brother Injured in Botched Burglary in Baltimore

Police have charged a Baltimore man with murder in the killing of a Catonsville businessman who was run over and killed Saturday in a botched burglary at his garden and pottery shop on Hollins Ferry Road in Baltimore.

George Marshall, 57, of the 200 block of Montrose Avenue was killed and his brother seriously injured, officials said.

Baltimore city police charged Ellerson Carter, 55, of the 2200 block of Annapolis Road with murder, assault and burglary Saturday night.

The brothers run a pottery and garden shop at the 2700 block of Hollins Ferry Road in southwest Baltimore called Patapsco Valley Sales and Supply.

According to police, the brothers interrupted a man who was trying to steal their box truck on Saturday afternoon. The suspect tried to drive away with the truck and struck both of the brothers.

Jennifer Parker, who lives on Montrose Avenue near the Marshalls, said the incident has shocked the neighborhood. Marshall ran the plant sale for a number of years at Hillcrest Elementary School.

"Anytime we needed anything they were right there," she said.
