Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office conducted an investigation into how local police in York handled the case of a former Catonsville precinct officer. Robert Vicosa, a former sergeant in the Catonsville precinct of the Baltimore County Police Department, allegedly kidnapped his two daughters, Giana and Aaminah Vicosa, from his estranged wife Marisa Vicosa in York County, Pennsylvania on Nov. 14, 2021. On Nov. 18, 2021, investigators discovered that Vicosa had shot and killed both his daughters, his accomplice Tia Bynum, and himself. The PA Attorney General's Office said there were "major concerns with certain lapses and decisions leading up to this tragic situation." (Baltimore Sun)
  2. Jasmine Dickey, a former Catonsville basketball player, is now a Delaware senior guard/forward and one of the top scorers in the country for Colonial Athletic Association champion Blue Hens. She also ranks third nationally and has been named CAA Player of the Year for two seasons. The Catonsville High School Comets retired Jasmine's number 20 jersey on Dec. 19, 2021. Catonsville coach Mike Mohler said "no one will ever wear the No. 20 again because no one is deserving." (Capital Gazette)
  3. On Saturday, Mar. 12, high school lacrosse coach Clay White, one of four founders of the Catonsville Indoor League, was inducted into the National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association (NILCA) Hall of Fame. NILCA vice president and event chairman John Kenney said White was "a pioneer, innovator, and resource for the game of lacrosse in Maryland" and his "impact on players and rival coaches is legendary in the state."
