Local Charities Benefit from Charlestown Field of Honor

Charlestown Retirement Community and Hubbard Funeral Home has donated $6,483 to Operation Second Chance and a similar amount of money to the Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund.

The money represented net proceeds from this year’s  Memorial Day weekend (and ensuing week) 1,000-flag Charlestown Field of Honor.

Operation Second Chance is a Maryland-based charity that helps care for wounded warriors and their families. The Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund is the community-supported program that guarantees all residents with a home for life in the event that they outlive their personal assets

The Charlestown Field of Honor paid tribute to the hundreds of thousands of past and present American veterans who have served their country and to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Area businesses and the general public sponsored each American flag flown atop 8-foot poles from inside the 110-acre Charlestown campus.
