Media Outlets Cover UMBC Graduate's Inspiring Story
Paralyzed graduate Matt Courson walked across the stage Monday.

It was an inspiring moment at UMBC's 56th commencement on Monday, when graduating senior Matt Courson walked across the stage to accept his diploma.
The feat was so meaningful because Courson, who used a walker to cross the stage, was paralyzed in an ATV accident in 2006. Courson moved to Baltimore to undergo intensive physical therapy at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and also enrolled in UMBC. Courson graduated with a degree in political science.
Media interest in UMBC's commence was higher than usual. CNN, for example, was doing a piece on Courson's therapy at Kennedy Krieger. You can read the story here.
