🌱 Meteor Showers + CHS Softball Team Wins + Local Ivy League Defender

First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:

1. Today is the last peak day of the Eta Aquariid meteor shower in Maryland, although the shower does not end until May 27. The best time for Maryland residents to see the shooting stars (and perhaps a few fireballs) is from May 4 to May 7. There could be another brief meteor shower, the Tau Herculids, which will peak overnight from May 30 to May 31 in Maryland. There will also be a "blood moon," where the moon turns red with a total lunar eclipse, from the night of May 15 to the morning of May 16. "Sky-watchers" recommend viewing meteor showers at the UMBC Observatory near Catonsville. (Maryland Patch)
2. The Catonsville High School softball team, the Comets, won 4 to 0 against Westminster on Thursday. Catonsville senior pitcher Maggie Kreis struck out nine players, pitched a four-hit shutout, and only walked one player; she also had two hits of her own and an RBI. Catonsville coach Paul Harris said, "She was on fire today." (Baltimore Sun)
3. Princeton senior Marge Donovan, a lacrosse defender from Catonsville, was named the 2022 Ivy-League Defender of the Year on May 5. Donovan was also selected for the 2022 First-Team All-Ivy. (Philly Lacrosse)
