Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:

  1. On Jul. 26 in the nearby town of Middle River, Baltimore County police reported that a 43-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were wounded in a drive-by an automatic weaponshooting near the intersection of Compass Road and Martin Boulevard. The investigation is ongoing and both victims were taken to the hospital. Baltimore County police department believe it was a "targeted incident." Police have confirmed that the cellphone video of the shooting on social media is real. (Baltimore Sun)
  2. Catonsville High School lacrosse goalie Brian Ruppel is excited and ready for the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game. The game will start at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jul. 30, at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field and will be televised live on ESPNU. Ruppel said, "There's definitely a lot of shots coming my way, but I'm just going to do what I can to talk to my defense and make as many saves as possible to help keep my team in it and hopefully the South squad will come out with a win."   3. Morgan Jackson and Maggie Flaherty, who work in a quarter-acre Baltimore city farm belonging to Atwater's restaurant, sell the crops in a market in Atwater's Catonsville location. They also help out at the Ashland Community Development Corp.'s community garden, between the First Tabernacle Beth El church and a rowhome. Ashland partners with the University of Maryland Extension to educate people on many topics including woodland stewardship, watershed protection and restoration, and food safety and preservation.   • Don't miss the Ron Wise memorial exhibit at the Baltimore Arts Guild Clubhouse, 10 St. Timothy's Lane in Catonsville! He was one of the founding members of the Baltimore County Arts Guild. His artwork will be on sale, and all of the funds will be donated to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital. The exhibit will run 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday until Aug. 22. (Instagram)
