Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:
- Today, Mar. 8, is the deadline set by a federal judge for the Baltimore County Council’s new redistricting map. Initially, The NAACP Baltimore County Branch sued the County its map included just one Black-majority district out of seven, despite the growing Black population of Baltimore County. The goal of the year-long redistricting effort was to increase minority representation on the Council. (WYPR)
- Over the weekend, Baltimore County Police officers responded to a shooting at Edmondson Avenue and Old Frederick Road. Officers report that a male victim walked into an area hospital with multiple graze gunshot wounds. The victim's injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening, according to authorities. Anyone with information should contact the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit. (Press Release Desk)
- On Sunday, Catonsville Rails to Trails held its annual meeting. There were 80 attendees and the CRTT received a check from the Catonsville Historical Society (CHS) for $66,750. These funds will go towards a trailhead park and wayside exhibits along the trail. (Catonsville Rails to Trails)
