Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:
- Yesterday, we reported that an armed man barricaded himself in his Orpington Road home after police arrived to investigate reports of shots fired. The incident occurred around 2:40 on Tuesday afternoon, and by 4 p.m., the suspect had safely exited the home. Today, police provided an update, saying that the man is now in police custody and charges are pending. (WBAL TV Baltimore)
- The Catonsville Comets boys' lacrosse team proudly finished their regular season undefeated as they claimed victory over Towson on Tuesday. Though the Towson Generals started closing the six-goal score gap Catonsville had earned early in the game, the team pulled through with a 9-7 victory. The Comets, currently ranked No. 12, will likely play No. 13 Hereford in the Baltimore County championship game on Monday. (Varsity Sports Network)
- High school admissions are a big deal here in the greater Baltimore area, which is why our local Catholic high school admissions directors and administrators take extra care to make their acceptance letters "a special moment" for eager eighth-graders. For instance, at Catonsville's Mount de Sales Academy, they use online notifications to ease some "unnecessary angst," since students don't always receive their acceptance packages on the same day. "It’s such an important decision that these families have been weighing, some as early as sixth grade or even earlier," said Director of Admissions Mattie Wood. "We want to make it as big a deal as we can for them." (Catholic Review of Baltimore)
