Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture is awarding Royal Farms a $1.6 million biofuel infrastructure grant to make higher-blend renewable biofuels more available to rural Delaware and Maryland under the Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program. Royal Farms will use the money to install 110 dispensers at 17 fueling stations, including one in Catonsville. (Star Democrat)
- The Bolster brothers, Catonsville High School students, have had a great two days in Catonsville sports. On Thursday, senior Johnny Bolster scored two goals for the unbeaten Catonsville lacrosse team. He helped the Comets win 7-to-6 against Hereford. On Friday, younger brother Tommy Bolster helped the Catonsville baseball team win 7-to-5 against Kenwood. Tommy had three hits, two RBIs, and scored two runs. (Baltimore Sun)
- On Saturday, the Catonsville lacrosse team won 9-to-8 against Mount Saint Joseph. Catonsville senior Frank Manalansan scored the game-winning goal with only seven minutes and 28 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Catonsville goalie Brian Ruppel had seven saves. Catonsville coach KR Schultz said, "Brian is just an incredible competitor, and incredible goalie, incredible lacrosse player." Mount Saint Joseph coach Tyler Reid was also impressed by Brian and said, "He’s a great goalie...and there is a reason he is considered the top goalie in the country, he carries their defense and he did an excellent job back there."
