🌱 State's Attorney Race + BC Man & Wife Arrested + Local Meteors

First, today's weather:

A thunderstorm in the area. High: 84 Low: 71.

Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:

1. Winners have been declared for two Baltimore County Council seats, but election workers are still counting the votes for the Democratic race for state's attorney. Today, Jul. 27, workers are expected to count provisional ballots, and Friday, Jul. 29, late-arriving mail ballots will be counted and election results should be certified. (Baltimore Sun)
2. On Jul. 26, Baltimore County officials issued an arrest warrant for 57-year-old James Weems Jr. of Baltimore County. His wife, 50-year-old Shanteari Weems, alleges he was molesting at least three children at her daycare in Baltimore County. Shanteari was arrested on Jul. 21 for allegedly shooting her husband. Baltimore County detectives have been investigating James Weems since earlier this month after they were notified of the abuse; he is currently hospitalized in police custody. (ABC 7 Chicago)
3. There are three meteor showers that will light up Maryland skies this month. The Perseid meteor shower is happening now. The Delta Aquariid, sometimes spelled Aquarid, meteor shower peaks Jul. 28 and Jul. 29 and runs until Aug. 2. The Alpha Capricornids peak on Jul. 31 and run through Aug. 15. (Maryland Patch)
