Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:

  1. Landlords in Maryland are relying heavily on tenant screening companies that compile information beyond what’s in renters’ credit reports, including criminal history, eviction filings, and more. However, tenant screening is less regulated and inaccurate algorithms cause frequent errors due to false eviction reports or criminal records. Also, tenants usually cannot get information on why they were deemed as risks. Kim Fuller and her 83-year-old mother had to leave Baltimore because they kept getting denied because of the tenant screening companies, even though she had a good credit score. Fuller and her mother moved to Catonsville instead. (Raw Story)
  2. The Catonsville girls' softball team won 5-4 against Towson on Mar. 30 at Catonsville High School. Senior Maggie Kreis pitched the whole game and struck out seven batters. Abby Mitchell had two doubles and scored two runs. Catonsville coach Paul Harris said Mitchell "was awesome today, she got our team MVP because of that. She did a terrific job." (Baltimore Sun)
  3. Junior Erin Kreis, of Catonsville, is a pitcher for the Stevens Institute of Technology softball team. On Mar. 30, Kreis struck out three batters, only allowed two hits over the first four innings, and allowed just one earned run over six innings. (Stevens Institute of Technology)
