The Winners of Chair Contest Announced at Frederick Road Fridays

A new element in Catonsville's many Fourth of July traditions ended on Friday night with the announcement of the winners of the first annual "Show Us Your Chair" contest.

The , which was created by Strategic Victory Consulting and the Fourth of July committee, came out of the community's tradition of leaving chairs out on Frederick Road to reserve seats for the parade.

As of Friday, of chairs lined the road, some of which had been put in place more than a week in advance.

This year, people were invited to decorate chairs around a certain theme and then solicit votes from the community.

In all, 11 chairs were entered and thousands of votes were cast both online and at Frederick Road Fridays. A total of $3,674 was raised online and more than $5,500 overall.

At this week's Frederick Road Fridays, the winners were announced.

The grand prize went to the Catonsville Hair Company. The runners up were Vangel Paper Company and Leikin and Baylin Dental Care. The spirit award went to Keith Lippert.
