This Streetcar No Longer Desireable—Except for Parts
Learn what is planned for a rusting, trashed streetcar on Jones Falls Road in Baltimore. It's much like the No. 8 that used to run between Catonsville and Towson.

The Baltimore Streetcar Museum is scrapping a streamlined streetcar, much like the ones that used to traverse the Baltimore Metro area in the 1930s and '40s.
This particular trolley car, set out along Falls Road, is rusty and vandalized, and beyond repair, save for using some of its parts that can be used for the rest of the museum's fleet, according to an article in Baltimore Brew.
It's a Presidents Conference Committee model, built in 1942, and was used in Philadelphia.
And it's the same model—art deco windows and all—that traversed the Baltimore Metro area, including the No. 8 that ran between Catonsville and Towson until about 1963, it states.

The streetcar is seeing its last days, but there's still plenty to see at the museum, located at 1901 Falls Road, according to the museum website.
That includes rides on original Baltimore streetcars, displays, an audio-visual presentation of Baltimore's streetcar history and more.
The museum is open year-round on Sundays, and on Saturdays from June through October.
Hours are noon to 5 p.m.
