Here are the top three stories today in Catonsville:
- Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, UMBC's retiring president, was honored for his leadership in higher education in Baltimore and in Maryland at the first Leaders in Higher Education Reception at Baltimore Center Stage on Apr. 19. Baltimore Collegetown Network, a nonprofit organization that works to attract, engage and retain college students in Baltimore, hosted the event. Hrabowski said, "As I travel around the country in the years ahead, I will continue talking about the strength of the state’s public and private colleges and universities and also about this amazing network of institutions in the Baltimore region."(Baltimore Sun)
- Don Mohler, a Catonsville resident, received the Trustee Alumni Award from his alma mater, McDaniel (formerly Western Maryland) College. Mohler spent his career in public service, and he was Baltimore County Executive in 2018. He also worked with Baltimore County Public Schools and was the principal at Catonsville High School. Currently, he is president and CEO of Mohler Communication Strategies. (Catonsville Patch)
- Baltimore County Public Schools officials announced yesterday that the 2022 high school graduations will have limited in-person seating. But friends, extended family, and community members can witness the graduations via live stream. Catonsville High School graduation will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jun. 11. (Nottinghammd)
