Got Extra Stuff? Donate It!

Public Works will come collect your unwanted things. All you have to do is get them to the curb.

Moving home for the summer? Got a bunch of old stuff you just want out of the house?

Now's the time.

Residents of Old Town and Calvert Hills can kick (read: gently transport) their unwanted things to the curb on Saturday, May 21 and Friday, May 27. Public Works will send a truck to you, so all you have to do is lug it from your house to the street.

What can you donate? Almost anything that's reusable and in good condition, except mattresses, couches and other upholstered furniture. Unopened and unused cleaning supplies, toiletries and non-perishable food can be bagged separately, and will be donated to a local shelter.

Items intended for donation should be labeled "For Donation," and kept separate from trash. The driver has final say on whether to accept your items, and it's your responsibility to dispose of anything that doesn't make the cut.

Those interested must contact Recycling Coordinator Stacey King at (240) 487-3593 or sking@collegeparkmd.gov one day in advance with your address, preferred donation day and the items you plan to donate. The donation must be on the curb by 10 a.m.
