Heirloom Tomatoes and More at the Farmers Market at Maryland

August has arrived—and with it some excellent offerings from the Farmers Market at Maryland.

Drop by the front of the Cole Student Activities Building Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for a selection of fresh, local fare, including heirloom tomatoes from Valencia's Produce.

This week's lineup also features:

• Bonaparte Breads: Bread and French pastries
• Upper Crust Bakery: Freshly baked breads
• McLeaf's Orchard: New this week—ginger gold apples, freestone peaches, tomatillos, golden beets, okra, cantaloupes, and sweet potato leaves; end of lettuce (until September) and pristine apples
• Picnic Gourmet Spreads: Gourmet sweet and savory cheese spreads
• Springfield Lamb of Kent County, Maryland: Lamb and sheep products
• Valencia's Produce: New this week—three varieties of heirloom field tomatoes, okra, minerva melons, and eight varieties of peppers
• Whipple Farms: Heirloom watermelon

Prince George's County Master Gardeners will also be on hand to answer questions about starting or maintaining a garden.
