$50K Winning Lotto Ticket Bought From Retailer At Capital Jazz Fest
A New England man found himself $50K richer after buying a scratch-off ticket at the Capital Jazz Fest held at Merriweather Post Pavilion.
COLUMBIA, MD — A New England resident and his mom in town for the Capital Jazz Fest at Merriweather Post Pavilion used mom's winnings on a scratch-off ticket bought at home to drive to the event.
While at the jazz fest, they visited the Maryland Lottery booth. On Saturday, his mom bought one ticket and didn’t win. When they returned on Sunday, the son’s scratch-off purchase - a $20 Lucky 777 ticket - ended up being a $50,000 winner.
The Capital Jazz Fest is one of dozens of events the Maryland Lottery attends throughout the year. At the lottery’s booth, attendees 18 or older can take a free spin on the prize wheel to win various lottery promotional items. At select events, a lottery retailer is on site selling tickets. The retailer joining the lottery at this event was York Road Plaza Wine and Spirits, located at 6360 York Road in Baltimore County.

The winner, who is an entrepreneur, told Maryland Lottery officials he was thrilled about his win and had no problem making a second trip to Baltimore to claim his prize. He plans to save and invest his windfall, lottery officials said.
The Lucky 777 game hit stores on May 19. It began with six $1 million and eight $50,000 prizes. There are still five $1 million, five $50,000 and hundreds of thousands of prizes between $20 and $10,000 remaining.
